Tour Plans

Day 1

Naukluft Park

Collection of guest at Airport or Guest house of choice within Windhoek . Windhoek is surrounded by mountains and we have to pass both the Eros Mountains and the Khomas Hochland Range. As we come through the mountains we drop down from the central plateau to grassy desert savannah. Our Accommodation is situated in Solitaire itself. On arrival we check into our lodge and get comfortable with the surrounding nature of the Namib Desert.

Day 2

Naukluft Park

Early start to catch the soft light of the sunrise over the desert. After passing through Sesriem gate we continue towards Sossusvlei with distant sand dunes along both sides of the road. We will stop at the famous Dune 45. Those who feel fit may climb the dune and get a breathtaking view of the surrounding desert and dunes. After breakfast we will take a desert walk in the cool of the morning at Deadvlei , with the chance of seeing gemsboks, springboks, black-backed jackals and ostriches. As the day cools down in the afternoon we will go on a short excursion to Sesriem Canyon. On arrival at the lodge your guide address you on the way forward.

We should be back at our lodge by 3 O’clock , we will drive with an open jeep to the Namib Dune Camp. The Namib Dune Star Camp is located in the dunes of the Namib desert. The camp which has nine cabins offers an "out-in-the-desert" experience with luxurious amenities like a soft double bed which can be wheeled out if guests want to sleep on veranda and under the stars. Furthermore the large rooms have an en-suite bathroom with hot shower and a spacious deck.

Day 3

Swakopmund

Namibia is a country of contrasts. Today we will move from desert to sea. On our way we will cross the Tropic of Capricorn and traverse the Gaub and the Kuiseb passes, driving down to the dry river bed at the bottom of the Kuiseb Canyon before climbing up the other side, watching the spectacular desert landscape unfold before us. Having arrived at the coast, we will make a stop in Walvis Bay to enjoy the view of flamingos and other birds in the lagoons.

Day 4

Swakopmund

The rest of the day will be free with plenty of time to explore the town. Swakopmund is a very pleasant seaside town with lots of shops, a good stretch of beach (although the Atlantic is quite cold here) and an open-air curio market. There is also a very good museum and the Namibian National Marine Aquarium is located in Swakopmund. Alternatively, there are various optional activities that can be arranged. These include a boat-tour (with oysters and champagne!), scenic flights and micro-light flights over the desert, fishing trips (either from the beach or in a boat), quad-bike trips into the desert and over the sand dunes around Swakopmund, sandboarding, skydiving and many other activities. Your guide will discuss all the possible optional activities with you and offer to make pre-bookings in advance. (N.B. all extra activities in Swakopmund are subject to availability and are made at the client's own risk and expense). Dinner today is not included in the cost of the safari and will be at the client's own expense.

Day 5

Omaruru

The lodge is situated in a private game park of 3400 ha. From the main road the visitor drives through the game, passing by rhinos, gnus, zebras and ostriches until finally reaching the ring-fenced carport of the lodge. The lodge is built in the midst of a green oasis with unique woodlands and palm trees with natural gardens which protect from the heat of the African sun.

The lodge was designed by a Swiss architect in the traditional African round house style with grass roofs and fitted perfectly in the landscape. The lodge is famous for the large number of game and offers to visitors the real Namibian wildlife adventure; at eye level with rhinos, Zebras, giraffes, Eland Oryx, Gnus, Kudus and other African antelopes as well as leopard and cheetahs etc.

Day 6

Etosha National Park

Etosha National Park is a national park in northwestern Namibia and one of the largest national parks in Africa. It was proclaimed a game reserve in March 1907 in Ordinance 88 by the Governor of German South West Africa, Friedrich von Lindequist. It was designated as Wildschutzgebiet in 1958, and was awarded the status of national park in 1967, an act of parliament of the Republic of South Africa. It spans an area of 22,270 km² and was named after the large Etosha pan which is almost entirely within the park. With an area of 4,760 km², the Etosha pan covers 23% of the total area of the national park. The area is home to hundreds of species of mammals, birds and reptiles, including several threatened and endangered species such as the black rhinoceros. Sixty-one black rhinoceros were killed during poaching in Namibia during 2022, 46 of which were killed in Etosha.

Day 7

Etosha National Park

Today we will spend most of the day game driving. We will visit a number of waterholes and make a stop at the Etosha Pan, the “place of dry water”. The Pan is an extensive flat depression of about 5,000 km2. This great, white expanse is a place of shimmering mirages and seeing large herds of game in this setting makes Etosha a unique experience.

Day 8

Waterberg National Park

After breakfast , we continue to the Waterberg Wilderness Plateau Park as we game drive our way to the southern exit of the Etosha National Park. Waterberg Plateau Park is a national park in central Namibia encompassing the Waterberg Plateau . The Waterberg Plateau is a particularly prominent feature, elevated high above the plains of the Kalahari of Eastern Namibia. The plateau and some 405 km² of surrounding land were declared a Nature Reserve in 1972. The plateau is largely inaccessible so in the early 1970s several of Namibia's endangered species were translocated there to protect them from predators and poaching to extinction. The programme was very successful and Waterberg now supplies other Namibian parks with rare species. In 1989, Black Rhino were reintroduced to the area from Damaraland, sparking a successful breeding programme of national and international significance for the species.
