The overall design of the structures will take cues from traditional Namibian vernacular architecture, as
well as the abstract forms inspired by the natural treasures profiled in the exhibits: diamonds, quiver
trees, the dunes of the Namib desert. The lobby, business lounge and travel market areas will take
inspiration from the design of Namibia’s luxury safari lodges and tented camps, with unfinished wood,
natural fibers and traditional fabrics used alongside modern furnishings.
The colours used in the pavilion will be primarily inspired by the oranges, yellows and browns of the
Namibian desert landscape, with accents of black and neon colors inspired by the bright star-filled
desert skies, as well as the bright blues of the ocean.
The exterior of the pavilion will feature video projections that will showcase a sampling of the striking
images that will be displayed in the exhibits. On the interior, each exhibit in the pavilion will be visually
distinct, through the use of large format photo prints, artifacts and high-definition video panels. Custom
audio engineering will be used to block out external noise and infuse each exhibit with high-fidelity
surround sound recordings from the virtual environment being explored in each exhibit.
